Akkara Homestay, Kottayam

Akkara Homestay is located in the town of Kottayam in the state of Kerala and is graded / classified as a Gold house by the Kerala Tourism Department.  Akkara Homestay is placed by the river bend of Meenachil river and is a large, secluded and a private property.  The homestay is known for its quaint rooms with terracotta floors and period furniture with a large courtyard with steps leading to the river.

How to Reach Akkara Homestay
If you are travelling by air, the nearest airport is Kochi International airport at Nedumbassery, which is at about 91 kilometers from Akkara Homestay. Kottayam is the nearest railway station  and the closest bus stand is at Kottayam which is about 5 kilometers from the homestay.
 The homestay is located at about 5 kilometers from the Kottayam town. When you reach Kottayam town ask for Chungam bridge and just before you reach the bridge there is a deviation towards old seminary of the orthodox syrians sect. Take the road to your left as you face the seminary for about 50 meters to reach the boat jetty. Take the ferry  and cross the river to reach Akkara Homestay.

Accommodations and other facilities at Akkara Homestay
There are 2 airconditioned  and one non air conditioned large rooms with double bed and attached bath facilities.  Two more double bed rooms can also be arranged with their partbner property nearby.
Fixed meal plans are there with tea, coffee and other drinks including alcoholic drinks available on request.  Picnic lunch will also be provided on request.
There is a TV room with a small library and internet facility. National and international phone call facility, laundry facility and ayurvedic massages by trained therapists are available.
Airport, Railway station and bus stand pick up and drop facilities are available. air conditioned vehicle with driver  with a max 10 persons seating is available for sight seeing trips, Houseboat cruises can be arranged  and a guide service is also available.

The tariff rates are Rs 3750 for an A/c room  and Rs 2750 for Non A/c room.
The rates include linen, morning coffee / tea and breakfast
Lunch and Dinner available on request at extra charges.
