Where is Pookot Lake located?
Pookot Lake is located at about 13 kilometers from Kalpetta, and is a beautiful tourist spot for the whole of wayanad to relax in the weekends. Pookot Lake is located at about 3 kilometers south of Vythiri Resorts. It is such a calm and serene place which makes it very lovable to the peace and calm loving tourists and travellers. The Lake offers a wonderful relaxation time, after the week's hectic schedule, for the office going people. They are the ones seen mostly in the area playing around with their children.
Pookot Lake is set amidst the mountains and is seen nestling in the lap of those mountains. Pookot Lake is a natural fresh water lake and is surrounded by dense wooded hills and evergreen forests.
Recreation Facilities available at Pookot Lake
Boating is available at the Pookot Lake and it is a beautiful expeience which makes the trip memorable. You can see tall trees and dense forests lining up by the side of the pathway which goes around the lake and makes it a visul treat by itself. There is a freshwater Aquarium there which is an added attraction to the lake. Fisheries Department manages the freshwater aquarium here at the Pookot lake.
There is a children's park and a shopping centre for the products of Wayanad like handicrafts and locally grown spices, arranged by the District Promotion council.
How to Reach Pookot Lake
If you are travelling by air, it would be easier for you to reach Calicut / Kozhikode Internationa airport or Mangalore Domestic airport. You can even reach Bangalore and then travel by road / rail and reach Kalpetta. Att the major cities in and around Kalpetta are connected with trains and bus transport. You can get private vehicles also for hire and drive down.

There are many hotels, resorts, homestays and other types of Lodgings found in the town of Kalpetta as it is the administrative capital of Wayanad District.
